Czech Immunological Society has launched a new initiative for young immunologists. This platform will enable better communication among young members of CIS and young immunologists across Europe within the yEFIS framework.

Who are we?
CYI is the new group for the young members of Czech Society of Immunology supporting the activity of early career (less than 10 years after PhD defense) researchers in immunology.
YI is also the official Czech group of yEFIS, the EFIS Network gathering all early career researchers in Europe working in the field of Immunology.
The main goals of CYI are:
- Promoting networking among young members of CIS
- Promoting networking with 400+ peers in Europe through the yEFIS Network
- Supporting career development of young immunologists
- Promoting the exchange of useful information (open positions, grants, internships)
- Bringing visibility to young immunologists by organizing seminars and retreats

What do we do?
Day of Immunology 2026 - CYI Mixer
This year, we will celebrate the Day of Immunology together at the 5th CYI Mixer, organized in collaboration with the Czech Immunological Society (CIS) and the Faculty of Science, Charles University.
The event will also serve as a celebration of the Immunology study program at the Faculty of Science, and for the first time we will host the mixer directly at the faculty’s Botanical Garden greenhouse.

The program will include a scientific session with invited speakers, a panel discussion with alumni of the Immunology program, networking opportunities, and guided tours of the botanical garden, followed by dinner and informal discussions.

yEFIS 3rd Symposium, Prague 2026
CYI members are involved in the organization and would like to invite you to the 3rd yEFIS Symposium, taking place in Prague, Czech Republic, from June 29 to July 1, 2026.
Organised by and for early-career immunologists, the yEFIS Symposium brings together PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, and early-stage group leaders from across Europe for three days of cutting-edge science, skill-focused workshops, and meaningful networking. Building on the success of our previous meetings in Berlin and Dublin, this year’s symposium will welcome over 250 early-career researchers in collaboration with the Czech Immunological Society and Czech Young Immunologists.

CYI Mixer
An annual event held in Prague to celebrate Immunology Day, where we combine professional content with informal networking and fun activities. Among the panelists of the plenary discussion we had, for example, Daniel Stach from Hyde Park Civilization, or we explored the underground of the Institutes of the Academy of Sciences.
T cell workshop
A two-day event full of expert lectures by speakers from the Czech Republic and abroad, complemented by practical demonstrations of various immunological methods. In 2024, the event, traditionally held in Prague, was held for the first time in Brno.
CYI Mikulášská
An informal meeting of CYI members in December, full of surprises. Whether it's a big cytometric game, where participants design their own cytometric panel, which they then color and analyze, or the arrival of the immunological Santa Claus with a devil and an angel. There's never a shortage of fun.
CYI weekend
A weekend of relaxation with a bunch of immunology enthusiasts.
CYI Phd state exam beer
Do you have a state exam in immunology coming up? At CYI pre-state exam beer, you will relieve stress and learn everything you need to successfully pass the exam, and maybe even meet colleagues who are taking the exam on the same date.
yEFIS Symposium
CYI is part of the yEFIS group, which brings together young immunology societies across Europe. yEFIS organizes a meeting of young immunologists every 2 years, where we can go together, similar to what happened in Berlin (2022) or Dublin (2024).
